SISYU
Calligrapher / Artist

Sisyu evolves the Japanese traditional culture, calligraphy, to media art, sculptures, paintings, and brings out the emotions and reasons contained in each character. Her style is a truly unique form of contemporary art, and it spreads the Japanese philosophy and culture to the world.

In 2014, at the French National Arts Association exhibition at the basement of the Louvre Museum in France, she received the first gold award for Japanese painting and the highest gold award for sculpture. The following year, she was selected as the “Guest of Honor Artist” of the same exhibition. That was a brilliant achievement for a Japanese person since Taikan Yokoyama.

In 2015, she worked on the entrance to the Japanese Pavilion at the Milano International Exhibition in Italy, which won a gold award in the exhibition design category.

In 2017, then Emperor and Empress (His Majesty the Emperor Emeritus and Her Majesty the Empress Emerita) visited the Sisyu exhibition, and she had the honor to guide them through the exhibition.

In 2020, Takashimaya held Sisyu’s solo exhibition in 7 venues.
